North Star Games is not currently accepting game submissions. We will start accepting submissions again in February of 2011. Thank you for your interest.
Game Types Needed
We are looking for games with social interaction that make people laugh and cheer. We prefer games that play in about 30 minutes and do not have many components.
- Party Games: Games that can be explained in 1 minute (ages 13+)
- Family Games: Games that can be explained in 1 - 3 minutes (ages 8+)
- Card Games: Games that can be explained in 1 - 3 minutes (all ages)
Submission Process Overview
- Send an email to "Submissions at NorthStarGames.com".
- Set up a time to meet at Toy Fair, GAMA, Origins, WBC, or GenCon.
- Give us a prototype so we can test it with friends.
Submission Process Details - Step 1
We do not accept copies of games unless we specifically request them. To begin the submission process, please send the rules in Microsoft Word format to "Submissions at NorthStarGames.com". Make sure all of the game components are listed at the top of the rules.
The email should follow the format below:
- Subect Field: Put the text "Game Submission" in the subject field.
- Overview: Explain in one or two sentences what the game is about.
- Fun Factor: Explain in one or two sentences why the game is fun.
- Target Market: Explain in one sentence who will play the game.
- Disclaimer: Cut and paste the following paragraph into the bottom of your email:
I understand that my game submission may be similar or identical to ideas that North Star Games, LLC has independently designed or that has or may be brought to North Star Games, LLC from other sources. I agree that I shall not be entitled to any compensation by reason of the use by North Star Games, LLC of such similar or identical material. I agree to indemnify North Star Games, LLC from any legal proceeding or intellectual property infringement regarding this game submission.
The paragraph above is part of the industry's standard disclosure statement. We are not in business to steal your ideas. Rather, the clause is meant for our protection because game publishers often get submissions which are similar to projects that they are already working on. Inventors sometimes mistakenly believe that a publisher is trying to steal their idea, when this is almost never the case in the board game industry.
Submission Process Details - Step 2
We will contact you if your game is a good fit for our product line. Then we will set up a meeting at one of the conventions we attend. We will think twice if you do not attend any of the important game conventions. We prefer to work with professional game designers.
Submission Process Details - Step 3
If we think your game has the potential to be GREAT, then we will ask for a prototype so that we can test it with friends and family.
